Their 'Mario' Is Super
LAST MONTH, we got our hands on the full DVD set of the "Super Mario Bros. Super Show." Remember that classic live-cartoon hybrid show from 1989? Although the show had guest appearances from Nicole Eggert (who would go on to "Baywatch" but had to endure being smothered in birthday cake by Mario and Luigi to get there), Sgt. Slaughter (professional wrestler and esteemed actor) and Danica McKellar (Winnie Cooper from "The Wonder Years"), we could barely get past the first disc. The acting's awkward, the Nintendo theme music repetitive. But this attempt to recreate Level 1-1 of the "Super Mario Brothers" video game on stage, posted on Google Video, is excellent and well-executed. Bravo.
» AYN RAND, MEET BRAGELINA: According to Variety, Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" will be brought to the silver screen. And more interesting, Lions Gate will be teaming up with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who will play Dagny Taggart and John Galt, respectively. We wonder what Rand would think of Jolie's fair-trade island paradise off Dubai. Hmmm. [via JoBlo, GoldenFiddle]
» HIDE YOUR BEER: The security operation at RFK Stadium or Verizon Center better pay attention. Fans could try to sneak in contraband beer using strap-on drink-holders disguised as protruding bellies. All those with beer guts are suspect. [via Sky News, Gizmag]
» MATH HURTS For a powerboat in "excellent condition" and "lots of extras" a misplaced decimal in its sticker price can make the difference between an absolute steal and cost-prohibitive luxury item. [Window Shopper/Express, second item]
