Today's Top Stop: Presidential Put-Downs
WITH PRESIDENTIAL APPROVAL RATINGS down in the dumps, there's no better time to rouse an audience by taking potshots at President Bush -- and that's exactly what performer Rick Fiori is counting on. His show, "The Worst President Ever," is a one-man satire that lampoons the president, his Cabinet and those who remain his loyal followers. Besides poking fun at the president's intellectual fortitude, Fiori tackles a number of controversial issues, such as gay marriage, immigration and gas prices, sparing no one's sensitivities in a show that is as humorous as it is critical. He mixes his own perspectives with a variety of amusing anecdotes and opinions from everyday people he meets around the Beltway who are eager to share their thoughts on the president.
Fiori has been picking on prominent politicians for years, both writing and performing political satire in D.C. and New York. His works have been called "intriguing" by The Post and "hilarious" by The Washington Times.
Bush supporters might want to stay away from this one, since you'll probably be grinding your teeth instead of rolling in the aisles. But for everyone else, Fiori is everything that his target isn't -- smart, liberal and (purposefully) funny.
