Window Shopper: The Heat Is On

It's hot out, so good thing this has reduced temperatures.IF YOU CAN'T BEAT THE HEAT, JOIN IT: Summer's finally here, and, with the heavy humid heat bearing down on you every day, you've had an idea for a certain home addition kicking around in the back of your mind. What's that, you say? Installing a pool? No, no, no — we're talking about a woodstove. OK, so maybe that hasn't been on your shopping list, but even if you're thinking a season ahead, we have some reservations about this Stafford, Va., piece that would need to be satisfied first — one, why is the woodstove outside? In the winter, people generally don't try to figure out ways to warm up their backyard. ("Brrr, it's cold outside! Crank up the heat and everyone open their windows!") Two, why is it considered a benefit that the "sides and top are ventilated/spaced away" so as to "greatly reduce" temperatures? Isn't the point of a woodstove to increase temperature? Of course, one quickly forgets such minor concerns when they find out the stove comes with three free logs of firewood.
