Williams' Last Splash

Ricky Carioti/The Washington PostWATER CANNON: We warned you. Today, Mayor Anthony Williams took his last traditional cannonball plunge into a District pool — the mayor's annual act to kick off summer and draw attention to local summer programs. He delighted onlookers young and old alike by plummeting off a diving board at Turkey Thicket Community Center in Northeast. Hizzoner also took part in some of the activities at local rec centers, which included live entertainment, sports, games arts and crafts, WTOP reported.

» IT'S WAR: Lindsay Lohan is now battling with Sean "P.Diddy" Combs. The tiff apparently started when Diddy's entourage took Lohan's table while she was arguing with Paris Hilton at a New York club. Diddy's security intervened when things became tense, The New York Post reported. [NYP via Egotastic]

» A FAILED CITY: It's always sad when a city cannot provide opportunities for its youth to flourish professionally — and it appears that the District has failed the Foer clan. While Franklin Foer, who edits the D.C.-based New Republic magazine, remains a local, there are now two Foer brothers who call New York City home — novelist Jonathan Safran Foer has been up there for a while (and is doing well in Brooklyn real estate) and now freelancer and memory champion Joshua Foer has just moved there. It's a shame that the nation's capital can't benefit from only one Foer cranium. [NY Observer via Gawker]
