Tonight's Top Stop: Eric Clapton
Map It:
FAMOUSLY HUMBLE guitar hero Eric Clapton recently told the AP that he's "definitely in decline" and that he was much more "proficient" a decade ago: If you want to hear the winner of 18 Grammys and his big band play hits like "I Shot the Sheriff," "Wonderful Tonight" and "Layla," catch Clapton tonight, before the man — pictured here with Dhani Harrison, son of the late George Harrison — falls apart entirely.
Clapton's story is well-chronicled (English lad rises from highly illegitimate birth to become a Yardbird, member of Cream, covet a Beatle's wife, sing "Cocaine," play "MTV Unplugged," date Naomi Campbell, etc.), but did you know that "Clapton Is God" was London's equivalent of Borf in the '60s?
