Local Blog Log: Feeling Feisty

THE MMM, MMM GOOD feeling from feasting over Thanksgiving has clearly worn off. And with temperatures feeling downright balmy for November it's hard to get in the Chrismukkah spirit. The result — a feisty corps of bloggers. Kathryn On is pumped up to take on the gym divas. After listening to one gym diva accuse other classmates of stealing, she watched another play with her cell phone while standing next to a treadmill, keeping other people from using it:

As time went by, Little Miss Thing didn't do a damn thing, she just kept playing with her phone. While standing on her treadmill. I felt incredulous when I realized I'd been on the treadmill twelve minutes ... then twenty minutes ... and she had yet to burn a calorie. ... When I hit the forty minute mark, she finally started preparing by placing her sports drink and water bottle in the cups, opening up a magazine, tying up her hair, moving all her gear off to the side of the machine ... and finally, FINALLY, starting the damn treadmill. Roughly 90 seconds into her workout, she took a cell phone call. While running. And talked for at least five minutes. When I finally got off the treadmill after 55 minutes, she was just getting started. I can't imagine a bigger and more inconsiderate way to waste my time.

So consider this a public service message. During the holidays, people at the gym might want to burn off the magnum of champagne they drank at the office holiday party or the stress of battling the masses at the mall, so don't be a machine hog. If you do, Kathryn On might "accidentally" kick you.
