Wedding Giveaway: Fran and Bill

Fran, 28, and Bill, 31, will marry Oct. 6 in Pottsville, Pa.

How did you meet?
"We met online at catholicmatch.com. Fran posted her profile on the site to stop her mother's constant suggestions that she do so."

How did he propose?
One of Fran's favorite places is her mother's kitchen. So, on Thanksgiving morning, Bill proposed while they were in their pajamas, at his future mother-in-law's kitchen table.

Describe a time when things were tough, but you stayed together and forged through.
"In February of 2006, Fran was diagnosed with Stage III colon cancer. Instead of a romantic dinner on Valentine's Day last year, we spent it with Fran's surgeon. Instead of a party on Bill's 31st birthday, we walked the halls of George Washington University Hospital to help Fran gain strength so she'd recover more quickly. We were given the opportunity to face real adversity together so early in our lives. We thought there was no better way to celebrate that than to plan our wedding for Oct. 6 -- one year to the day after Fran's last chemotherapy treatment."

If you had to make a TV show, movie or book into the theme of your wedding, which would you choose and why?
"'Back to the Future.' There is nothing we'd want more than to go back in time so our fathers, who are both deceased, could be there. It would be trippy, because the prepubescent versions of ourselves would be witnessing their own future wedding."

You get to the church on your wedding day and the roof has fallen in. What do you do?
"That would certainly be a good time to have a good, stiff drink -- or at least a beer. In that case, it's a very good thing that the church where we are getting married is physically attached to the Yuengling Brewery."

Would you rather marry in a lime-green prom ensemble from the 1970s, or include all your exes in the wedding party?
Lime green. "Have you ever been in the same room with three girls who dated the same guy, who were all trying to look better than a fourth girl who happened to be marrying that guy? Now, add that guy to the room."

    I went to high school with Mary Francis and just happened to stumble along this web page while on the internet. Mary Francis and I played softball together when we were little and later went to high school together. I am so sad to see that you had to battle cancer, my little boy was diagnosed with brain cancer a year ago so I know what a long, hard battle it is but God does perform miracles.
