In Silver Spring, Make Way for the Pool

COMMENTERS AT local blog Silver Spring Scene have had a variety of reactions to the future Falkland Chase residential development at 16th Street and East-West Highway, ranging from shock ("Oh my god, lol ... That thing is huge.") to horror ("The traffic ... will be a complete nightmare if this project comes to fruition.") to excitement ("But the Harris Teeter is SWEET ... we desperately need a good grocery store around here").

For some nearby residents, however, a feeling of shock is probably pretty uniform when they learn that the quaint garden-style apartments they call home will eventually become the swimming pool for a high-rise development: "When Home Properties sent out the letter what ... about a year ago, I really didn't think I was going to be [a]ffected!"

Time to flee to Wheaton? Oh, wait.
