Downtown DMV Office Closes, Moves to M St. SW
ATTENTION, DISTRICT RESIDENTS: If you were planning on taking a trip to the District's Department of Motor Vehicles office on C Street NW near Judiciary Square, don't bother. Starting today, that location is closed. But the memories of its long lines and red tape, infamous during the Barry Administration, will be with us always.
Now, all the services that had been offered at Judiciary Square have been transferred to a new facility in Southwest D.C. The new location is situated halfway between the Waterfront-SEU and Navy Yard stations on the Green Line. So while those who work near South Capitol Street might benefit from the new location, those who work downtown won't be able to attempt a quick lunchtime trip to sort out their motor vehicle needs.
We'll be anxiously awaiting initial reviews of the new location. Speaking of which, Free Ride's driver's license photo is in need of an update....
