People: Do-Gooders Episode

"AMERICAN IDOL" TO SAVE WORLD. Sure, the show may have unleashed such plagues as Justin Guarini and Taylor Hicks, but April 24-25, "AI" will make up for its bad karma by hosting a telethon. OK, OK, apparently "telethon" is making Fox execs cringe, so we'll call it sappy-TV-aiming-at-getting-you-to-empty- your-wallet. The first night will feature clips of the show's stars visiting areas in need. (Anyone else think it's funny Simon and Ryan went to Kenya and Paula got Kentucky?). The next night includes stars like Pink and Sacha Baron Cohen asking for cash. Please oh please let Borat show up and challenge Pink to a wrestling match. We'd shill out for that. [Time]

  • Who writes you articles...an elementary age child...I mean really...to compare Justin G. with Taylor Hicks is definitely not a credible journalist that has done their research....WOW..you blew it!

  • I guess it just depends on one's musical taste. I'm not a fan of either's music, it has nothing to do with the amount of records Hicks has sold.

  • Taylor Hicks is a awesome entertainer. His sold out concert tour speaks for itself!

  • What do you all think of the "AI" telethon idea? Think it'll be a huge success? It'll be interesting to watch to say the least.

  • What kind of a decent person would refer to two young men as a plague. These two men have talent maybe not your style but who says your right. From what I've read and seen I think they are both fine people with Mr. Hicks being voted most polite celebrity.I really think you owe them an apology. This is terribly offensive to the reader not to mention the subjects and totally uncalled for, if you can't make your point in a more respectful way maybe you should leave the job to someone who can.

  • I see you have decided that being cruel is the best way to popularity. To use the word plague for human beings, is, at best, low, i

n-humane and cruel. I understand that most Americans now days are more concerned with themselves, only, how ever do we remember the saying about treating each other the way we, ourselves, would like to be treated. I have seen Taylor in concert, and find him to be a terrific singer and good entertainer. Each to his own taste, but there's still no reason to take such a personal attack.

  • I am very offended by the American Idol section. Justin Guarini and Taylor Hicks happen to be two of my favorite artists. I don't agree with calling anyone "a plague" How about a little respect for the artists and their fans!

  • "..the show may have unleashed such plagues as Justin Guarini and Taylor Hicks..." Well that was a thoughtful and witty comment! Just what the world needs - more negativity! Maybe you should consider using your time in the world to say positive things? Oh, but maybe positive things won't get you as many "hits"? Whatever...

  • I agree - why the personal attack on Justin and Taylor.

Taylor is one class act - how can you call him a plague. Jealous of his sold out concert tour or the number of ladies lined up just to get a peek of this silver fox.

Taylor Hicks rocks - you just plain suck!

  • American Idol's worries with regards to karma have nothing to do with bringing these two young men into the public eye. They should be more concerned with their treatment of current American Idol Taylor Hicks. They continually trash him. It will come back to bite them in the hind quarters.

Another who should be worried about karma is the writer of this swill. I see he/she must have attended the "if it's mean, it's funny skool of jernalism." I think you'd better put on your leather britches as well.

  • Some retractions or apologies should be demanded of this writer. How can anyone call Taylor Hicks or Justin Guarini a plague???!!! They are two very talented performers/singers who certainly have a loyal fan base. The writer's words are unspeakable. I think the writer of this article should go the route of Mr. Imus.
