Fairfax Board OKs Metro Extension Funding
THE TYSONS TUNNEL is likely dead. Maybe, this time for real.
This afternoon in an 8-2 vote, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved $400 million in funding for the first phase of the Metrorail extension to Dulles Airport that would travel through busy Tysons Corner via an elevated rail line instead of a tunnel.
While almost everyone has said a tunnel is through Tysons is the more desired option, the high cost of such a routing has put the overall project in jeopardy more than once. Here's more from The Post's Amy Gardner and Debbi Wilgoren.
