At New Ballpark, $400 a Game for Some Seats

Photo by Preston Keres/The Washington PostWITH THEIR NEW STADIUM poised to open in less than a year, the Washington Nationals have announced their ticket pricing structure for the 2008 season. And if you're in the market for premium seats, get ready for some sticker shock.

As The Post's Thomas Heath reports, the pricing regime includes a swath of big-ticket seats:

Tickets for the top seats at the Washington Nationals' new stadium will cost as much as $400 per game, among the highest prices in Major League Baseball.... Fans will pay at least $150 per game to sit in the 1,800 most desirable locations in the stadium, the team said. The most expensive seat this season at RFK Stadium is $140, according to the team's Web site.
Those prices might sound outrageous to the average baseball fan, but the team has set other tickets at a much lower cost. Seats in the outfield and upper deck will cost between $5 and $20. The view might not be great, but the price is more appealing.

The team also set a pecking order for those looking to snag season tickets at the new stadium: Fans who bought season tickets in 2005 will have the first choice, followed by those in 2006 and then this season.
