D.C., Va. Sales Tax Holidays Coming Soon

IT'S BACK-TO-SCHOOL TIME, and that means that tax-free shopping deals are coming in the District and Virginia.

In D.C., the sales-tax holiday starts Saturday and lasts through Aug. 12, covering individual items — shoes, clothing, accessory items and school supplies — priced $100 or less.

In Virginia, the sales-tax holiday is in effect only for the upcoming weekend and covers apparel and shoes priced less than $100 apiece and school-office supplies priced $20 and lower. As the Times-Dispatch wrote on Sunday, the commonwealth's sales-tax holiday isn't only for schoolchildren. All the fine print can be found here.

Expect Hollister, Urban Outfitters, American Eagle and Abercrombie & Fitch at Tysons Corner to be packed, as always.
