Dry Cleaners Play Nice as Appeals Deadline Nears

THE OWNERS of a Fort Lincoln dry cleaning business sued by an unsatisfied administrative law judge for $54 million are extending a peace offering of sorts in hopes of ending the drama, which has attracted national attention.

As The Post's Henri E. Cauvin reports, the dry cleaners' owner, Soo Chung, and her family have offered to withdraw "their demand that [plaintiff Roy Pearson] pay nearly $83,000 for their legal bills, saying that enough money had been raised from supporters to cover the expenses and that they want to end the fighting."

Earlier this summer, Pearson lost his now-infamous $54 million lawsuit over a pair of missing pants. Pearson, who has heard his job might be in jeopardy, has until Wednesday to file notice that he intends to continue with his appeal. If he does, the Chungs "are reserving their right to seek attorneys' fees for any future proceedings," The Post reports.
