H St. NE Single-Sale Moratorium Rules Set

THE DAYS OF EASY-ACCESS malt liquor on the H Street NW corridor will soon be over.

According to an announcement from Ward 6 D.C. Council member Tommy Wells, the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board today published its final rules in the D.C. Register on how to implement the already approved moratorium on the sale of single-serve containers of alcohol in the revitalizing corridor.

And Oct. 1 is the date when Steel Reserve and its cousins will no longer be allowed to be sold in liquor stores up and down the H Street strip from the 700 block to the 1400 block. The moratorium, which has been billed as a way to fight crime, curb public drunkenness and improve quality of life, will be in place for three years.
