Reading Tom Davis' Tea Leaves for '08
"DOES [REP. TOM DAVIS] KNOW something about [Sen. John] Warner's planned announcement next month that we don't?" That's what The Post's Chris Cillizza and Shailagh Murray ask in the Sunday Fix (last item).
As politics watchers on Capitol Hill and in Virginia await Warner's highly anticipated September announcement regarding his re-election intentions for 2008 — many expect the senior senator to step aside — Davis, at right, has been lining up a Senate campaign team in case Warner decides to resign. Davis' angling comes as Warner's congressional team has been making moves of its own. The newest tea leaf to read: Davis has brought on a former top congressional and campaign aide, John Hishta, luring him from a cushy lobbying job.
