D.C. Vote Bill Fails in Senate
NEW FROM THE POST: Legislation that would have given the District a full and equal vote in the House of Representatives failed in a procedural vote in the Senate, 57-42. Writes The Post's Mary Beth Sheridan:
The vote was merely on whether to begin action on the bill. But only 57 senators voted in favor, short of the 60 needed to proceed. Without enough support to vault the Senate's procedural hurdles, the bill is expected to stall for this year, and possibly next year as well. For complete details on this afternoon's vote, click here.

So reduce the size of Washington, D.C. to include only the Mall, the White House, Capitol Hill, and the Supreme Court. Give the rest of it back to Maryland. Problem solved.
