Free Walking Tours Across D.C. Set for Saturday
LOOKING FOR SOMETHING to do this weekend? Do you enjoy walking? If the answer to both of those questions is yes, why not take a walk that'll teach you about District history while giving you a chance to stretch your legs.
The fall installment of Cultural Tourism D.C.'s Walking Town tours are set for Saturday. Most of the 50 tours offered are free and don't require a reservation.
While the jaunts through Embassy Row and Georgetown are always popular, it might be more interesting to take a hike through areas of the District that don't get too many visitors.
For example, you might consider exploring D.C.'s newly renamed Marvin Gaye Park, the once-trashed greenbelt along Watts Branch in Ward 7, where you can see the site of Gaye's boyhood home, the former nightclub where he first performed professionally and the nature sanctuary where Martin Luther King Jr. gave a speech in 1961.
There are plenty of others to choose from. Tours are given rain or shine. Get details from culturaltourismdc.org.
