Styles: Right Ankles
BOOTS NEEDN'T REACH THE KNEES these days. This fall, a stampede of ankle-grazing footwear exposes more than a glimpse of stockings.
Whether they're New Wave-inspired babies with pointy toes or neo-Victorian numbers, these shorties are long on style.
"It's like a little pop at the end of the leg," says local designer Monica Favela, who included space age-y silver booties in her Gigi Favela fall line. "They're very fun and sexy," says Marlene Hu Aldaba of Hu's Shoes. "You can wear them with skirts, dresses or pants."
If you slip 'em on with a calf-baring style, the right hosiery can keep gams from looking lonely. Opaque tights in the same shade as your shoes create a subdued effect; slouchy socks or bright-colored leggings honor the trend's godmother, Cyndi Lauper. Because any girl in a bootie just wants to have fun.
Find these silver Gigi Favela booties at Unsungdesigners.com for $550. Unless otherwise noted, all the tights in the story are Hue ($11-$18), available at Bloomindale's stores or Hue.com.

Nice post. These are in style sure - for guys too! I finally found a sweet pair at a shoe reviews site I'll be wearing these in the very near future, but not with a skirt!
