Eating Around: Conscious Cooking at Chix

TAKEOUT GOES ORGANIC at the new U Street-area Chix, which features three versions of rotisserie chicken, soups and an array of sides.

The birds — supplied by Freebird Farms in Lancaster, Pa. — are dressed in either a Peruvian or Columbian marinade or in Chix's own concoction created by co-owner Victoria Garcia's Spanish-born father, a chef.

Be sure to try the zesty chickpea salad, black beans with cumin and orange, or the vermicelli noodle mac and cheese.

Feeling under the weather? House-made chicken soup might bring you back to health.
