Teamsters' Union: Super Bowl Bars

THE SUPER BOWL IS AN IMPORTANT EVENT. Not just for the New York Giants or the New England Patriots, or even their fans. What the big game offers Americans is the gift of Sunday-night drinking and unlimited snacking on fried foods.

Most sports bars will offer cheap beer-and-wings specials, but we've got some spots that might not scream "Pigskin party!" but allow guests to take part in the communal Monday-morning hangover.

Can't sit still for four-plus hours of helmets-crashing? Play pool, shuffleboard and Wii while keeping an eye on the game at Bedrock Billiards. Bedrock doesn't serve food, but you can relax on one of many couches and order in from a neighboring joint. Bud, Bud Light and Miller Lite will be $2 throughout the game.

Openly enjoy ogling men in tight pants at Nellie's, U Street's fun gay sports bar where DJ Don Trott will provide the tunes. With no cover, buckets of beer for $11.95 and party favors, Nellie's is sure to be a blast whoever takes home that gaudy ring

If you want to retain an air of class while watching men sustain head injuries, take a seat at Hudson's bar. European beers will start at $3 and increase by 50 cents every quarter. Bar fare includes their spin on the buffalo wing: a chicken lollipop with barbecue sauce for $1 each and duck confit spring rolls for two bucks.

If you call Bill Belichick your savior, you'll fit right in at Murphy's. Wear your number 81 jersey and get there early — the Patriots-dedicated upstairs bar will have Sam Adams and Sam Adams Lager on special, which should go nicely with the New England clam chowder.

Giants fans will gather at the official Noo Yawk sports bar — 51st State Tavern. Starting at 7 p.m., house amber ales go for $2.75 and Big Blue shooters will be passed around for $3. Five-buck burgers will quell the churning in your stomach.
