B.I.O.: The New Art of Wooing

20080321-bio1.jpgAT OXFORD'S grad school orientation, Catherine Roberts was so jittery, she didn’t notice the fellow sitting across the aisle. But when Garriy Shteynerg invited himself on a museum trip Catherine had planned with pals that afternoon, she wondered about the guy ”working hard to pretend to be interested in art.„ His motives were obvious: ”She probably thought I was being obnoxious by being so forward.„

Six months later, the pair took a stroll along the Thames, followed by a midnight visit to a cemetery and a first-kiss attempt that went awry. Garriy was told ”I think you got the wrong message.„ Or did he? A year and three months later, it was Catherine who popped the question first. When visiting her family’s home, she asked, ”Will you marry me someday?„ Garriy said yes and pulled a ring from his pocket. They’ll wed at her grandparents’ Kentucky farm on May 31 before spending the night in an uncle’s floating cabin on a nearby pond.

Catherine, 24, is a museum professional. Garriy, 28, is a Ph.D. student. They live in the Eastern Market area.
