Chips On U: Bobby Lew Gets an Accent
BOBBY LEW'S SALOON on 18th and U streets has dual personalities. One comes out at night — weekends, actually — in the form of a college-town bar for getting chummy with old friends and meeting (or shimmying up to) new ones.
The other persona is that of a true watering hole, with tchotckes on the walls and good, stiff drinks. Across the street, owner Martin Corboy opened the Blaguard, a proper chipper. The establishment already feels worn-in, and hefty hunks of battered fish boast the charm and airiness of those found in coastal New England.
