Idol Chatter: David Cook Briefly Sent to Hospital

20080402-cook.jpgNEWS SITES and blogs are ablaze with this story, so I thought I'd share it here, too: After Tuesday night's performance, "American Idol" hopeful David Cook was taken to the hospital, but was released after a few hours, People.com reports.

Show host Ryan Seacrest, quoting a text message from "Idol" producer Nigel Lythgoe, told his KIIS-FM radio audience Wednesday morning that Cook was briefly hospitalized while suffering from high blood pressure, Fox News reports. According to TMZ.com, Cook was examined by show medics, who told him his blood pressure was "far too high." "He was urged to leave for the hospital during the show, but he wanted to wait it out," TMZ reports.

Whatever the details, Cook is apparently back in his hotel room and doing better, sources say. Guess we'll see what happens when "Idol" returns live tonight.
