Carissa, 25, works for a public health policy research firm. Matthew, 24, is a reporter. They live in Charlottesville.

» The Main Event: A formal ceremony and reception in Mitchellville, Md., on June 28. After exchanging vows, the couple will exit the aisle to the Turtles' "Happy Together."

» How They Met: Spanish class as undergrads at the University of Maryland. "We started going to lunch together every day and became fast friends," says Carissa. "We were too chicken to do anything about it for a year and a half."

» First Impressions: "He's cute, but way out of my league." "She was the most beautiful girl ever."

» First Date: Dinner at the Cheesecake Factory in Chevy Chase.

» How He Proposed: "We 'found' a seashell with a ring in it while walking on the beach in the Bahamas," says Carissa. "For a second, I thought we'd found pirate treasure."

» When He Knew: For Matthew, it was pretty simple: "As soon as she walked into the classroom."

» Celebrating Heritage: "I grew up dancing the jitterbug with my dad in our living room," says Carissa. "So, we wanted our father-daughter dance to be a happy one." They'll dance to "My Girl" by the Temptations.

» With an Infinite Budget ... "I would have booked Huey Lewis and the News to play at the reception," says Matthew.

» Making It Unique: Aside from homemade brownies as favors, "Matthew's surprising me with a song he's singing to me," says Carissa. "I'm just hoping it's not 'Brick House.'"
