Summer Dining Shake-Ups: Hook

THE WARM WEATHER is creating some major shake-ups in the dining scene. Local eco-superman Barton Seaver has left Georgetown's Hook. Seaver moved from his previous gig at Café St. Ex to head up the sustainable-seafood center.

Colorado Kitchen, known for its homey food and fresh doughnuts, will close. Chef and co-owner Gillian Clark plans to stay in the area: Look for the General Store (casual dining) and Post Office Tavern (bar and restaurant) in Silver Spring this fall; another spot is set for Takoma Park.

The short-lived Restaurant K by Alison Swope has also closed. Its switch to a Southern/Southwestern focus wasn't enough to break the bad karma of this location.
