Aloha, Free: Gary Haleamau

topstopgary.jpg IF YOU'RE AS disenchanted with D.C. in the summer as I am, perhaps Hawaii sounds better.

No, you're not a congressman with a sweet summer timeshare, but you can still enjoy the sounds of Gary Haleamau (for no charge, no less) at the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage this evening.

Haleamau has mastered the art of hula, instrumentally (most notably the slack key guitar) and vocally. He uses leo ki'eki'e, an unmistakably Hawaiian falsetto style of singing, and although Haleamau lives in Vegas, retains his Hawaiian identity fully.
