Afro-Scots: Old Blind Dogs

Photo courtesy of the Old Blind Dogs WHAT DOES TRADITIONAL Scottish music sound like when you blend it with Afro-beat and reggae elements? I think the word is "awesome."

We only know the answer to said question thanks to Old Blind Dogs, the ambitious band that dared to combine such seemingly disparate brands of music. Turns out, it's all very complimentary — African drumbeats highlight soothing Scottish singing in a lovely, if unexpected, way. The bagpipes and the drums get along well, too, moving in time with each other for an intense result.

Check out this utterly progressive product of our globalized world tonight at the Birchmere with Cara and Teada.
