Mark, 25, is a research engineer at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Lauren, 25, is a management analyst at the Department of Veterans Affairs. They live in Alexandria.

» The Main Event: One hundred fifty guests will assemble at the Heinz Memorial Chapel in Pittsburgh on Aug. 22 for an evening wedding.

» How They Met: At an ice-skating mixer sponsored by her sorority and his fraternity in January 2004.

» First Date: Saturday evening Mass with a romantic dinner at the student union cafeteria afterward.

» How He Proposed: "Mark proposed on the morning of my parents' 28th wedding anniversary. We were visiting Pittsburgh, and he dragged me out of bed at 7 a.m. to take pictures of our university's campus. He had planned on proposing the whole time and wanted to do it early so there would be no gawkers. He asked me right in front of the chapel we're getting married in."

» Their Song: "' Things I Hate About You' by Miley Cyrus because we've had some serious ups and downs, but in the end, like the song, we're undeniably wild about each other," Lauren says. But Mark says, "We always dance to Michael Buble's 'The Best is Yet to Come,' but Miley's song is a better song about our relationship."
