Bridget Weston and Richard Pollack

Bridget Weston, 25
Richard Pollack, 26

Bridget and Richard will marry April 10, 2010, likely in D.C. or Northern Virginia.

Bridget Weston and Richard Pollak1. How did you meet?
They met while attending the University of Pennsylvania, where they shared a large group of friends. Toward the end of their senior year, Bridget recalls, "There was a lot of flirting back and forth, but Rick would never ‘make the move.'" Rick admits he "wasn't sure if starting a relationship was a good idea" with graduation looming. On May 25, 2005, the two discussed the future and shared their first kiss. Rick says: "I realized she was worth it and that I never wanted to lose her."

2. How did he propose?
While driving home from a party on Jan. 1, 2009, Rick said he wasn't feeling well and asked whether they could pull over at the Jefferson Memorial. After he'd been gone for five minutes, Bridget assumed he had gotten "sick or arrested" and resolved to find him. She spotted him by the Tidal Basin in front of the monument. "I ran over, thinking he was ill. That's when he gave me a kiss and got down on one knee," Bridget says.

3. Describe a time when things were tough but you stayed together and forged through.
"Rick and I had been dating less than six months when my mom had a massive stroke. Two days before Christmas, we were told she wouldn't make it, and we brought her home to die in peace. My mother was my best friend, and I cannot explain how sad I was." Rick instinctively responded with kindness. He says: "As soon as I heard, I knew I had to be there for her. Doing anything I could to help her was what I wanted to do. It still is."

4. If you had to make a TV show, movie or book into the theme of your wedding, which would you choose and why?
Although Rick was holding out for "SportsCenter," he agrees with Bridget's suggestion: "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory." She says: "It's about never losing touch with your inner child and taking care of your loved ones."

5. You get to the ceremony site on your wedding day, and the roof has fallen in. What do you do?
"This is why we are having a civil ceremony!" Bridget says.

6. Would you rather get married in a lime-green prom ensemble from the 1970s, or include all your exes in the wedding party?
Lime green, baby. "I think the pictures would be fantastic, and our family and friends would go all-out," Rick says. "Seriously, do you know where I can get a lime-green tuxedo?"

  • I loved reading your entry. One thing that set you all apart was the fact that you BOTH answered the questions. It was a team effort. I think that is what marriage is all about. I read the other entries and although very honest and filled with love. You two had to me what real love and a long lasting relationship needs. Equality. Good luck I hope you two win. You deserve it!
