A Permanent Fixture: Ani DiFranco
FRIDAY & SATURDAY: Ani DiFranco has come a long way from playing Beatles covers in dive bars and busking on the streets of Buffalo at the age of 9. Known for her folk-inspired rock, the Grammy-winning musician has released more than 21 albums over the course of her career.
She sings about politics, feminism, modern culture and — like all poets — love, love, love. Her image as an angry at the inequality of the world songwriter has mellowed as she's gotten older, but she's still a crusader for social justice in her life and her music. If you spent your teenage years singing along to DiFranco's pissed-off anthems — and whom among us did not? — this will be a bad-ass, dreadlocked return to adolescence.
