» How He Proposed: In his home. "I hid the ring so well that she couldn't find it … totally threw off my game. I was tripping all over my words."

» When He Knew: When she helped him sand and stain his staircase. "I can't see too many women willing to get sawdust in their face to impress a date."

» Their Song: "Fortunate" by Maxwell, which he sang to her one night after it started playing in his head.

» Pet Names: "D-Nice" — a play on her middle name and a nod to their admiration for '80s and '90s hip-hop.

» With Infinite Funds: They'd fly in faraway friends and family to be part of their day.
