Aging Gracefully: Actress, Dancer, and Advice Diva Lisa Rinna

Lisa RinnaTHOUGH SHE BUBBLED onto the national radar as a soap star of both day ("Days of Our Lives") and night ("Melrose Place"), there's a lot more to actress Lisa Rinna than romance and revenge plots. After a long run on Season 2 of "Dancing With the Stars," she launched a series of ballroom-based workout DVDs. Now, the recent Playboy cover girl has penned a health and beauty advice book, "Rinnavation: Getting Your Best Life Ever" ($26, Simon Spotlight), revealing how she keeps looking hot at age 46.

» EXPRESS: Why'd you write the book?
» RINNA: Well, I never wanted to give anyone advice. I'm not an expert! But it started out as a diet and exercise book, and as I was writing it, I thought, "I've got so much more to say." So, I delve into spirituality, fashion and share my whole journey.

» EXPRESS: The book is big on healthful eating. Why is it so important?
» RINNA: If you eat well, you'll feel good and look good and go out into the universe as a happy person.

» EXPRESS: You're a real exercise junkie, too. How can we all become one?
» RINNA: I just feel like anyone who gets moving will get that release of endorphins, which are natural Prozac. But, still, getting started exercising is the hardest thing. You have to ask yourself, "Would I rather be fat, or would I rather feel good and fit into my jeans?"

» EXPRESS: What's your favorite workout?
» RINNA: Dance is my favorite exercise by far. It just brings so much joy, and it gets you in the best shape. What it does to your abs is crazy!

» EXPRESS: Do you have a favorite dance?
» RINNA: That's hard, because I like so many of them. But the cha-cha is so much fun.

» EXPRESS: Any exercise you won't do?
» RINNA: Boot camp! I don't like to do something that'll make me throw up and then later make me so hungry I'll eat the side of a house.

» EXPRESS: You've been candid about getting Botox and a boob job. Do you think the stigma against this stuff is silly?
» RINNA: Yeah, I ask, "What's the big deal?" We all get our hair colored and get spray tans, so where do you draw the line?

» EXPRESS: Do you think some people take cosmetic enhancements too far?
» RINNA: Yes. What I see in Los Angeles is that a little bit is great, but that there are people who are changing the shapes of their faces. If you do that, it looks freakish. What you want to do is maintain and make your look fresher.

» EXPRESS: What's the key to aging gracefully?
» RINNA: I think women should realize they don't have to give up. It's about accepting aging, that decades lived give wisdom. Your 40s and 50s can be a great time.

» EXPRESS: You also run a pair of women's clothing boutiques, Belle Gray. What are you carrying?
» RINNA: Well, nothing really high-priced, because right now people are seeking affordability. I love me some designer things, but right now, nobody is buying $1,500 handbags.

  • Um, the following quote from Ms. Rinna would have been SO effective if, well, if her picture wasn't there.
