  • I have personally never read one of his books, but any book that gets more hype than television is a good idea. Too often society chooses (or lets their children) to plop in front of the television and just stare off into space. Reading is a hobby that far too few Americans undertake.

  • He's a good storyteller but a terrible writer. I tried to force myself to read The Da Vinci Code three times, and I just couldn't get past all the melodrama and cheesy wording. There are many great writers that I think deserve the attention we give to Dan Brown.

  • In my opinion, Dan Brown's novels get waay too much hype. Visit your bookstore. Trust me, there are better novels out there.

  • They deserve it at least as much as J.K. Rowling's do. Though I more prefer non-fiction, I do like to decompress with a good story once in a while.

  • Of course! Any man who can change Jesus Christ Superstar to Jesus Christ Superstud with one book desrves all the hype that could ever exist!
(Not intended seriously, for the sarcasm-impaired...)

    Hype?
If you really mean PR and Marketing... since when is good PR and Marketing a *bad* thing?!
Besides, the book takes place in Washington, DC.

  • Dan Brown is the Britney Spears of pop lit: lotta hype, little talent.

  • There's no problem with Dan Brown getting hype. He writes and sells books, and anyone can make their own decision to read and buy them.

  • The fact we're talking about him, and his latest book may give DC more tourist than normal is the best form of publicity he got. Whether or not his books are well written or not is another thing.

  • I personally have never read any of his books nor care to.

  • No, but I give Brown a half-credit for having openly admitted that almost all of what he writes is pure invention. The fact that a vast portion of what Mencken called the "boobocracy" takes his books as literal truth, leading to an Amazon jungle of conspiracy theories, spin-off books and boring History Channel specials, may speak volumes about Brown's cynicism (I can't believe he didn't expect his books would be received this way), but in fact the man has never claimed he was telling the exact truth -- let the buyer beware.

Wait a minute. Are you saying Mary Magdalene DIDN'T shoot JFK?!?!?!

    By Diogenes , Posted September 17, 2009 12:56 PM
  • I generally prefer non-fiction

  • Mr. Brown has brought to light the Satanic underpinnings of the Democrat Party. His release is more than a coincidence with Hussen Obama working to turn America a muslim colony.

  • If that hype translates into well-deserved business for bookstores, then for cripes sake, hype away!

You are delusional and should seek professional psychological help.
    Immediately.

  • Anonymous @ 5:09 PM (Diogenes),
You are the one that really needs to seek help. Those who are quick to tell others that they need to seek help are "more often than not able to come to a better decision than a white man who has not lived that life." Sorry, I could not resist your poster child's statement. Those who are quick to tell others that they need to seek help are more often then not the one that truly needs the help.
    GOP Parent,
Although I do agree with your first statement, your second statement is warrantless. Obama is just trying to destroy this country in any way that he can. Why else would he now refuse to fund missile defense in Poland other than the fact that he is weak and all too happy to bow to Russia? When this country is attacked, and it will be over the next four years, he will have no one to blame but himself for making us less safe. I am not a fan of Cheney, but at least he is correct on that point. Instead of missile defense in Poland, he is opting to place American warships in the area in harm's way. Where is the left on this horrible decision? Oh yeah, they are still drooling over Obama and their delusional dream that he can do nothing wrong.

I agree with Anonymous at 5:09 PM and although I am an independent. I generally vote republican. You have some issues that need to be worked out through psychological help.
