Sure. Why not. At least it will be better written and more factual than anything you get in the news media.
By STR , Posted October 8, 2009 4:02 AMYes. It should be a breath of fresh air from everything BARACK. I can not wait. It is sure to be number one on the NY Times Best Seller List like many of the other CONSERVATIVE BOOKS. Too bad that the only Liberal Best Seller I can remember are Barack’s books. I guess only conservatives can read.
By Common Kevin , Posted October 8, 2009 5:58 AMNo, I'll wait for the movie to come to Lifetime.
By Kevin , Posted October 8, 2009 6:56 AMWhy is a book put out by Obama considered a book, but one by Palin is a memoir? Good way to show your blatant discrimination Express. This is why I cancelled my Washington Post subscription and refuse to ever purchase one again. I thought the media was supposed to be neutral. I guess those days are long gone.
By Just Asking , Posted October 8, 2009 7:18 AMIs hell freezing over?
By Frank , Posted October 8, 2009 7:24 AMOMG I'm so excited about Sarah's booke!!! She's my politicianal BFF, and I hope she becomes President!!! Or at least first Lady!!!
By Palin's My BFF!!!!!! , Posted October 8, 2009 7:29 AMI alwaysl wait till they make a movie of it.
By typical , Posted October 8, 2009 7:35 AMIs she actually going to finish it or does she plan to quit in the middle because it will increase her ability to ... what is it she thougth quiting governor would do for her prospects?
By Anonymous , Posted October 8, 2009 8:20 AM@ Just Asking
Thre topics covered in a book are not the same a memior. Barrack's books may have included items similiar to a memior, but it also covered other thoughts and topics as well. A memoir is also about a certain point in a person's life, not their whole life (that is an authobiography).
Barack wrote an autobiography (whole life) and a book about his plan for change when he took office.
By Anonymous , Posted October 8, 2009 8:32 AMShe didn't even write it so why should anyone read it?
By vacymro , Posted October 8, 2009 8:38 AMBarack Obama wrote his books; he didn't need a ghost writer. He also had something to say other than he could see Russia from his porch.
@ just asking
Palin is writing a memoir. Obama wrote an autbiography and a political manifesto. All three are types of books.
You are arguing word use with the media. Over the last 40 years, integrity and unbiased covereage has fallen out of that profession.
By Anonymous , Posted October 8, 2009 8:47 AMBuy it?! LOL
By Anonymous , Posted October 8, 2009 8:58 AMI wouldn't read it if they were giving it away for free.
The woman can barely put together a complete sentence, so I have doubts that whatever she "wrote" will make any sense anyway.
Can you please add a "Hell no" option to the poll?
By Anonymous , Posted October 8, 2009 9:20 AMIf it were a book about her political philosophy, i'd read it. This is just a memoir of the campaign trail and I'm just not that into memoirs.
It's a shame so many have such vitriol for someone they know little to nothing about. I don't know much about her but that causes me to have no opinion rather than hatred.
By brad2 , Posted October 8, 2009 9:21 AMNot based on the advance copy Palin's editor shared with me. Here's an excerpt:
"So it's around noon the day after John announces me as his running mate, right? And me and Todd and the kids are still sleepin' in, 'cause it's a Friday and all. When suddenly Cindy barges in our room and starts rummaging through our suitcases. I mean she's freakin' out like that gorilla in that old American Tourister ad. Flannel shirts and jeans and hip waders are flyin' everywhere. Then she marches over to the bed, points her crookedy Wicked Witch finger in my face and shrieks, 'You listen to me, you two-bit backwoods hick! Your days as little Miss Farm-and-Fleet are over! Get your *** out of bed and put on something respectable! You and I are going shopping for some REAL clothes!' That afternoon was the first time I'd ever set foot in a Neiman Marcus store. I knew from that point forward that my life would never be the same."
By Diogenes , Posted October 8, 2009 9:30 AMWhat's with all these people putting out mid-life "memoirs?" I thought the idea was to recount one's whole life. Palin hasn't spoken a coherent sentence in her whole life, so this book is a joke. What an obvious ploy for money!
By defense lib , Posted October 8, 2009 9:34 AMAnonymous @ 8:32 AM,
I wouldn't know personally about Obama's books. If I wanted to read socialist crap then I would read about Obama's idol Marx or one about Van Jones the Communist.
vacymro,
Did Obama mention that he thought there were 57 states like he mentioned on the campaign trail?
Anonymous @ 8:47 AM,
I fully agree with your assessment of the lack of integrity and unbiased coverage from the media.
Anonymous @ 8:58 AM,
By Just Asking , Posted October 8, 2009 9:41 AMI feel the same way with Obama's "books" and would not give him another penny other than that which he is twisting our arms and forcing us to give him so he can "redistribute our wealth" to the lazy. Can Obama really speak and write? I wonder how he is without his prewritten speeches by others and teleprompter. At least when Clinton lost his teleprompter he went on with the speech from memory while Obama just sits there in a daze waiting for it to be fixed. Maybe that is a good case to not smoke crack like Obama did as he was younger or you might turn out like a vegetable when your teleprompter goes out.
For the comedic value alone it might be worth the price. But I'm certain her ghost writer will give it that same smarmy, smug tone from her campaign appearances, and her fund raising appearances that makes me want to vomit.
Now if the audio book included some extemporaneous passages along the lines of her resignation speech, look out. I would be first in line. Either way I can't wait to hear Shatner recite lines from the book on the Conan O'Brien Show.
By MildlyMisanthropic , Posted October 8, 2009 10:38 AMI may buy it. It has to at least be better than Obama's books about doing pot and crack. Would you really want your kids to know that it is now a requirement to get high and kill brain cells in order to become president? The last three presidents we had were potheads. If it is good enough for the president, why not make it legal and tax the crap out of it to pay down the deficit and reduce the crime rate as well as those wasting their lives in jail at our expense?
By LOL , Posted October 8, 2009 10:56 AM@ Just Asking @ 9:41 AM
I never said I read his books. All I did was look them up on Amazon so I could give you a description of what they are (per your question @ 7:18 AM).
I would actually also question how much Obama wrote himself. I have seen him try to answer questions impromtu. He does not do a good job without a written product to read.
By Anonymous @ 8:32 AM , Posted October 8, 2009 11:02 AMYa betcha not! That woman scares me. Why would I want to read her book?
By Anonymous , Posted October 8, 2009 11:03 AM@ Anonymous @8:32 AM
"I have seen him try to answer questions impromtu. He does not do a good job without a written product to read."
What are you talking about? Obama has already given more press briefing Q&A sessions in nine months than Bush gave in eight years, and in every one of them he's been very forthcoming and candid in his off-the-cuff moments. As I recall it was Bush who regularly got busted feeding questions to his audience before hand, and then flubbed his responses when the performance went "live."
Palin speaks just fine in public, it's just that she's stupid. Apparently McCain's advisers thought that played well with the Bible thumpers.
By Anonymous , Posted October 8, 2009 11:43 AMThanks for the excerpt Diogenes. It still uses a lot of looooong words (e.g. "rummaging", "respectable"), so I expect that most Republicans will have to wait for the Readers Digest version or an Idiot's Guide.
By Anonymous , Posted October 8, 2009 11:58 AMI may dig it out of the Borders 99 cent section a couple of weeks after its published...but only to add it to my collection of other worthy oddities like the Milli Vinilli album, singing fish plaque and Smurf glasses.
By Collector of Pop Culture Oddities , Posted October 8, 2009 12:48 PM@ Anonymous @ 11:58 AM
Obama doesn't feed questions to the audience, he just doesn't do as well answering them. I was not ware that only you could have an opinion schmuck.
By Anonymous , Posted October 8, 2009 1:04 PMPoliticians aren't reading what they're voting for and we're supposed to shell out money to buy their stupid book??? Either party--read your own work and maybe we'll give a toss about your drivel.
By another person , Posted October 8, 2009 1:12 PMAnonymous @ 8:32 AM,
I agree.
Anonymous @ 11:43 AM,
By Just Asking , Posted October 8, 2009 1:18 PMYou are drinking too much Kool-Aid made with DC water. Maybe you are smoking crack with Obama. All of Obama's "news briefings" are staged and he picks the order of questions from a premade list. His answers are lengthy and just reiterations of his speech. The only time he was truthful was with Joe the Plumber when he stated he wanted to "redistribute the wealth and spread it around." Maybe there is a reason Obama will not go on Fox News. The interview he had with O'Reilly was fair and challenging. Obama is just scared to go on Fox News where he will be asked actual questions that challenge him to think and not speak campaign rhetoric of which he is still in the mode. Obama is as clueless as Bush and if not for his precious teleprompters and the "men behind the curtain" he would likely be more of a bumbling idiot. At least Bush had enough cahones to speak freely instead of having the constant crutch that Obama does.
HELL NO!! I wouldn't waste my money on that hatemonger, uninformed, quitter. Are u kidding me?
I don't if John McCain will even buy it. No Way, No how!!
By s.g. , Posted October 8, 2009 1:37 PMNo way will I buy Palin's book; I don't want to give her a cent of my business.
By Lowspark , Posted October 8, 2009 1:54 PMHowever....I want to read it, because I always aspire to at least understand the positions of those with whom I disagree. Sometimes I find a grain of common concern and even common sense at the bottom of a pile of fear, assumptions, howls about "freedom" and - in some cases but not all - bigotry (not necessarily racist). Speaking of freedom....It gets me, how today's conservatives whine on about threats to "freedom," while at the same time...limiting freedoms that really matter to most Americans, such as those that pertain to our families, our religious/spiritual practices, personal choices, and so much more. Geeze...I wish these folks could just live their lives according to their creeds and lifestyles, without trying to shove it all down everyone else's throat. I see Sara Palin as one of these folks...and I detest her and all for which she stands (including the aerial moose-shooting and the snowmobiling of her husband...). She and her ways would be relics by now, were it not for Reagan, who managed to sell a sow's ear as a silk purse, with his silver tongue. Even "B" movie actors can fool enough people enough of the time...
Her book will make a worth addition to every conservatives book shelf, right next to the other book they own "My Pet Goat".
I suspect that Palin would show well on a Jeff Probst reality show. Lets run through the check list: Friendly. Check. Athletic. Check. Loud mouth. Check. Speaks in monosyllables. Check. Lies. Check. Looks better than a pig with lipstick. Check. In need of a new career. Check. Dysfunctional family. Check. Obsessive/compulsive fans. Check.
By Amazon , Posted October 8, 2009 2:15 PMNo, I'll wait for the movie to come out. Then again, I've already seen "Legally Blonde 2" on cable so I guess Palin's "Going Rogue" would be redundant.
By Philimus , Posted October 8, 2009 2:28 PMLowspark,
By Anonymous , Posted October 8, 2009 2:31 PMGood points, just look at Franken and the building conspiracy that he bought the Minnesota election with the assistance of ACORN fraud or does that only apply to conservatives?
Palin already has a movie. It is called "Nailin Palin". I have not seen it, but it is probably accurate and funny (we will just never know for sure).
By Anonymous , Posted October 8, 2009 3:10 PMI'd much rather see Levi's naked body in Playgirl than buy and then... read this idiot's memoir.
By Anonymous , Posted October 8, 2009 3:13 PMNo. Palin is a small footnote in ancient history.
It is notable that conservatives/Palin supporters are unable to stick with today's topic, instead veer wildly to distract attention away from her. OTOH, liberals/Palin jeerers are able to stay on topic.
Do conservatives have ADHD? Do liberals enjoy shooting fish in a barrel?
By V , Posted October 8, 2009 3:38 PMWill it be a pop up book?
By Dishonest Abe , Posted October 8, 2009 9:51 PMI'd rather see Levi Johnston naked in Playgirl than read an alleged memoir of Sarah Palin.
By Anonymous , Posted October 9, 2009 7:14 AMAny day.
@ Philmus
Sarah Pailn is already in a movie called "Nailin Pailin." I doubt she will do another.
