  • If he buys the Rams, He'll mismanage that team the same way Matt Millen mismanaged the Lions. Heck, he'll make Daniel Synder look like Jerry Jones.

  • Who wouldn't be a better owner.

    By STR , Posted October 14, 2009 4:21 AM
  • No. Neither has any inkling about sports or running an an organization of that size and scope, and both are simply trying to buy back lost high school popularity. Limbaugh would be just as incompetent, just in a different way. Add to that, his penchant for inflammatory comments and it would just be an embarrassment to the city and the league to have him as a team owner.

  • Who knows and who cares.

  • Mr. Snyder is proof that having money doesn't make one a good owner. It's all in how you spend it.

    By Kevin , Posted October 14, 2009 8:17 AM
  • Limbaugh's only interest in the NFL is easy access to pain meds. He should spare himself the charade and just buy a pharmacy.

    By Diogenes , Posted October 14, 2009 8:34 AM
  • Let's see, a hate and venom spewing right-wingnut or a greedy, money-grabbing right-wingnut?
    Not much difference really.

  • I believe anyone could be a better NFL team owner than Daniel Snyder. I don't think he's interested in what happens with the Redskins at all.

    By Nancy , Posted October 14, 2009 9:02 AM
  • No they are both idiots only difference with them is that one(Snyder) is losing fans and the other(Limbaugh) will lose fans and players.

  • Goodness, a question that doesn't have an obvious answer for once! But that's like asking, was Pol Pot a greater democrat than Kim Il-sung, or are the Nationals a worse team than the Senators were? Leaving aside the question of whether a loudmouth political wingnut can run a team (Ted Turner, a certified left-wing wingnut, has done all right running the Atlanta Braves, even if he hasn't won many World Series rings), the simple fact is that we don't have any evidence to draw on, since Rush never has tried to run a pro sports team. He might be a disaster, he might be okay, depending on whether he had the sense to hire professional GMs and coaches and then GET OUT OF THE WAY, something that Snyder has totally refused even to consider.

  • Better how... dermally? If so, no. Rush Limbaugh would have nothing on Dan Snyder.

    By Matt G , Posted October 14, 2009 10:15 AM
  • Someone should pull a "Moxon" on him while he's on the sidelines during practice.

    By demonfafa , Posted October 14, 2009 10:26 AM
  • Rush's team would just sit on the sidelines and yell that the wildcat offense is socialist.

By Dishonest Abe , Posted October 14, 2009 11:03 AM
  • Let's see, a racist running a team of mostly black players. Yep, Rushbo is realizing his dreams as owner of the plantation.

    By Anonymous , Posted October 14, 2009 11:04 AM
  • Rush has created a profitable empire based on his own talent, beliefs, and ideology. As an NFL owner, he will have to rely on other people and players for success. For someone not used to that, it might be a tough adjustment.
As for the recent dustup in the media, I find it curious that players who kill people, shoot themselves, and dogs get a chance to play in the NFL, but an addicted bigot would be excluded.
As for players who don't want to play for Rush, ask yourself, play on an NFL team and make millions or take nothing and make a stand?? Yeah right.

  • Why does your poll post mostly right-wing supportive comments? - -very noticeable bias in your paper daily.

So did Pablo Escobar of the Medellin drug cartel: doesn't mean he should own a football team. Incidentally, it's debatable whether spouting divisive, ignorant vitriol qualifies as a "talent".

  • Gee, nobody's going to answer *this* poll with any kind of bias or irrelevant personal feelings I'm sure...

"Why does your poll post mostly right-wing supportive comments? - -very noticeable bias in your paper daily."
    ?
    Based on what criteria?

How about this question which should have been asked on the 12th: SHOULD Obama have gotten a Nobel Peace Prize at all? Speaking of political bias...

  • No way. As bad as Snyder is, Limbaugh would be far worse. He doesn't know how to run anything but his mouth.

    By Philimus , Posted October 14, 2009 12:16 PM
  • Yes. As would Idi Amin and Satan.

  • @Diogenes
You or I may not agree with a person's talent, but what he does is legal (unlike your example).
It is an exercise of free speech, (like Huffington Post, CNN or Newsweek) and is rewarded in the marketplace by advertisers who have sustained his business for years. Talent is in the eyes of the beholder and not for us to judge another person.

  • "Talent is in the eyes of the beholder and not for us to judge another person."

Oh, please. Limbaugh is one of the MOST judgmental people I have ever heard spew forth hateful and bigoted remarks.

So, what's your point besides an attempt to defend this jerk?

    By Anonymous , Posted October 14, 2009 2:19 PM
  • @anonymous
Well, the remark was a silly pun--..."not for us to judge "ANOTHER PERSON"--that is me.
As for Rush spewing forth judgement and bigotry, I don't defend or care about him. But for the NFL players to set themselves above??? Seriously, this posting isnt long enough for their collective rap sheets. Owning the NAACP, sure, Rush doesn't deserve that. Owning Ebony magazine, sure, I can see stopping that. But owning a franchise of felons, cons and probies? He's perfect.

  • @ another person

You're right, I should've stuck with my original choice: Adolph Hitler. His actions were completely permissible under German law, and as a disseminator of hate-speech, he was extraordinarily gifted. Alas, shouting "Nazi" in a crowded public forum is so overdone these days. Now, as for your comment about passing judgment on others, is that not precisely the role of a beholder? To judge? After all, if no one is able to discern beauty/talent/intellect/humor/etc, they fail to exist. Not that I'm judging.

    By Diogenes , Posted October 14, 2009 3:14 PM
  • He wouldn't be any worse than Snyder, but the NFL won't let him buy a team. It's a non starter.

    By chris , Posted October 14, 2009 3:25 PM
  • Given that 70% of the NFL players are black, the Rams will certainly be behind Rush after he repeats some of his choicest lines:
    * "We are being told that we have to hope [Obama] succeeds, that we have to bend over, grab the ankles ... because his father was black."
    * "I do believe" Obama is an "angry black guy."
    * "[I]n Obama's America, the white kids now get beat up with the black kids cheering."
    * "Obama's entire economic program is reparations."
    * Obama is "more African in his roots than he is American" and is "behaving like an African colonial despot."
    * Obama is "Halfrican-American."
    * "Obama has disowned his white half ... he's decided he's got to go all in on the black side."
    * Sotomayor "a reverse racist" appointed by Obama, "the greatest living example of a reverse racist."
    * Obama "wants us to have the same health care and plan that he had in Kenya" and "wants to be the black FDR."
    * Latching onto LA Times op-ed, Limbaugh sings "Barack, The Magic Negro."
    * "God does not have a birth certificate. Neither does Obama"; Obama "has yet to prove he's a citizen."
    * Limbaugh on Gates controversy: "Here you have a black president trying to destroy a white policeman."
    * Limbaugh suggests Obama would not have acted on Somali pirates if he'd known they were "actually young, black Muslim teenagers."
    * Limbaugh suggests Democrats, media believe "you can't criticize the little black man-child."
    * "The government's been taking care of [young blacks] their whole lives."
    * "The days of [minorities] not having any power are over, and they are angry."
    * "[M]inorities never do anything for which they have to apologize."
    * Limbaugh: "The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well."
    * Limbaugh says "NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips."
    * Limbaugh declares basketball "the favorite sport of gangs."
    * Limbaugh invented "racial component" to Hackett's decision to withdraw from Ohio primary race.
    * Limbaugh on Survivor series: "African-American tribe" worst swimmers, Hispanics "will do things other people won't do."
    * Limbaugh suggested Colin Powell only supported Obama because of race.
    * Limbaugh: Gates is an "angry racist."
    * Limbaugh called illegal immigrants an "invasive species."
    * Limbaugh repeatedly calls Native Americans "Injuns."
    * Limbaugh says Democrats' interest in Darfur is securing black "voting bloc."
    * Limbaugh says that if "feminazis" had remembered to oppose "affirmative action for black guys ... they wouldn't face the situation they face today."
